Planning Your Snacks

Planning your snacks can be easy, but we often make it more difficult than it needs to be!
When planning my mid-morning/mid-afternoon/evening snacks, I like to keep nutrition in mind a good portion of the time!
I always do my best to include fruit as part of my snack food regimen, as well as vegetables of some sort. For example, in this picture, I sliced up a little over half of one Fugi apple, 3 strawberries, and a handful of blueberries. I also included sugar snap peas in a separate container. On the side I included an apple cinnamon squeezable apple sauce packet (in case my bloodsugar got low), and a Rebbl Superherb Elixir turmeric golden-milk drink (they have many different flavors!) Water is also a must - always!
The main piece of info. to take away from this blog post is to choose your food wisely. Form a mental or physical list of snack foods that you can have on hand at any time so you don't mindlessly find yourself wandering to the freezer for ice cream or to the pantry for a bag of chips. Always include whole foods into your snacks. Fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds in their natural form are always the best you can consume for your body, but I realize, as we are human, sometimes we crave more. 1/3 fruit + 1/3 vegetables + 1/3 other (see list below) is a balanced regimen I like to stick by.
(Check other blog posts for some of my favorite homemade/natural snacks and recipe ideas to prep ahead and have on hand!)
